Northern Ponds – Hempstead Lake State Park

This project involved the improvements to Northern Ponds. The project consisted of:

  • Developing a master plan for the improvement of the water bodies and flows
  • Evaluate sources of and potential remedies for floatables.
  • Analyze water flow patterns in northeast and northwest ponds in conjunction with adjacent streams and drainage systems.
  • Evaluate sources of and potential remedies for sedimentation and erosion in ponds.
  • Examine cause of low water levels in ponds and evaluate potential remedies.
  • Design trash rack and erosion protection.
  • Design construction and maintenance access route

Responsible for the preparation of the master plan, preliminary and final design plans, specifications and construction cost estimate, securing permits from regulatory agencies. This project was completed on time and within budget.
