Provided construction inspection of the reconstruction of bridge carrying I-87 Major Deegan Expressway over Route 908F Mosholu Parkway, in Bronx County, NY.

Major elements of the reconstruction included: demolish and dispose of existing 8-inch reinforced concrete deck and steel superstructure; erect 118 ft wide and 120 ft long new steel superstructure with continuous steel girder; place rebar for new 9-inch reinforced concrete deck and pour concrete deck slab; construct a new ADA pedestrian ramp structure; demolish and dispose existing reinforced concrete pavement, median barrier, lamp post and closed drainage system with pipes and catch basins; install new median barrier and lighting system; construct new closed drainage system; relocate electrical conduits; removal and planting of trees and landscaping; extensive MPT.

As Prime Consultant, was selected to provide Construction Inspection of Maintenance Repairs on Highway Bridges in Queens County, New York City. Thirteen bridges are on 907M Grand Central Parkway, three on 908B Jackie Robinson Parkway, two on the I-295 Clearview Expressway, one is on I-678 Van Wyck Expressway, and four are on 907D Southern Parkway (Belt System). These bridges carry either the expressways or parkways over local streets or local streets over the expressways/parkways. Maintenance repair work is planned for the bridges’ superstructure or substructure elements comprised of reinforced concrete, steel, asphalt concrete or masonry.

The bridge elements requiring repairs include: bridge bearings, pedestals, pier columns and caps, deck joints, deck slabs, deck wearing surface, primary structural steel members, secondary structural steel members, bridge railing, sidewalk, drainage structures, abutments, wing walls, and approach pavement. Some of these may contain asbestos. Installation of under deck safety netting, and painting of various steel members are also planned. For BIN: 2240499 carrying Cross Bay Blvd over Jamaica Bay, repair work includes addressing yellow flags and resealing of bridge joints. Work Zone Traffic Control: lane closures on expressways, parkways and local streets are scheduled for weekdays, nights and weekends.
