Pirates Cove Bulkhead Replacement, Town of Oyster Bay Department of Public Works – The scope of this project includes the removal of an existing timber bulkhead and replacing it with a vinyl bulkhead. The new bulkhead consists of timber piles, timber wales and vinyl sheet piles.

The project included survey, mapping, soils and geotechnical analysis, seawall design, reports, site planning, cost proposals, design and specifications.

NCDPW is undertaking a major repair/replacement/dependability overhaul of its 70 MGD Bay Park Wastewater Treatment plant following the devastation of Super Storm Sandy. As part of the construction program, the NCDPW is performing multiple projects simultaneously in order to comply with the deadline requirements for the more than $800,000,000 in federal aid, predominantly from FEMA. Under the E-1 Electrical Distribution System Improvements Contract, Nassau County DPW is constructing three new Electrical Unit Substations in new facilities situated above the design flood elevation for future catastrophic storm events.

As a member of the Hazen & Sawyer / Arcadis Program Management team (the JV), performed as the Construction Liaison, and monitors the work activities of the Design Engineer of Record (DER), Construction Manager (CM), Resident Project Representative (RPR), (Inspector), and Construction Contractor (CC). In this particular case, the Phase E-1 contract for the construction of three unit substations (USS 3, 4, & 5), replacement of site wide electrical distribution equipment, demolition of obsoleted equipment and facilities, and relocation and reconstruction of power supply, motors and controls of facilities slated to remain for a total construction cost of $28,674,700. Providing program level coordination and guidance, performs quality assurance over-site for compliance with the contract documents, and facilitates communication among all project team members to resolve any issues that may arise. Ensures that all parties comply with the requirements of the construction management manual (CMM), and electronic project management information system (PMIS) record keeping requirements.

Gateway Estates Phase

Gateway Estates is one of the largest city-sponsored economic developments in Brooklyn, NY. It is a part of the Fresh Creek Urban Renewal project. The project turned a long-vacant piece of publicly owned land into a new community.

The intent of Phase 1 was to improve the quality of life within the project area by building new roadways, sidewalks and curbs, and replacing the existing combined sewers and water mains, reconstructing roadway, installing new traffic signals, signage, pedestrian ramps, street lighting, bus stop shelters and landscaping work. As the prime consultant, we were retained to perform the Resident Engineering Inspection Services for the infrastructure.

Key Elements of the project included: Contract Administration and Project Management, Resident Engineering Inspection of the construction of water mains, sanitary sewers, combined sewers, street lighting, traffic signals, and utilities relocation. Construction of new roadways, curbs, sidewalks and pedestrian ramps, pile driving, tree mitigation, maintenance and protection of traffic, scheduling adherence to project milestones and enforcement all applicable permits. This project was completed on time and within budget.
