Prime Consultant for this project. The project intent was to conduct a detailed survey of Middlesex Avenue and intersecting roadways to provide a plan for drainage improvements along the entire length of the road. Middlesex Avenue is an east/west neighborhood road providing access for residents and travelers to private homes at the southern area of the Town of Islip. The roadway is part of an older, established neighborhood with varying cross sections from one end to the other.
The project consisted of:
The review of existing road use and roadway traffic patterns; review of all intersections within the study area; gathering of topographical information for the roads and private residences from a planimetric and topographical survey of the area; conducting a drainage survey of the systems and inverts for structures along Middlesex Avenue and intersecting streets; borings for sub-surface conditions and preparation of a separate map; analyzing existing conditions for drainage areas at key intersections; determining the projected impact to the surrounding environment; calculating the final drainage storm water requirements and preparing alternative solutions to the drainage problems along with associated costs.
Project was completed on time and within budget.
