The project consisted of construction of a proposed 1 Story Medical Office building with roughly 10,064 SF footprint. The lot was originally occupied by an existing structure which was demolished. TSPE provided the following services:

Inspection and verification of sub-surface soil: Subgrade material was inspected in order to verify project acceptance based on New York City Building Code. Approximately 9 locations were inspected at depths varying from 30 feet to 40 feet in depth.

Soil analysis of Subsurface soil: Visual analysis of the subsurface soil was observed to check conformance with the requirements of NYC Building coil and Unified Soil Classification system. 

Concrete Field testing: Concrete Field tests were performed on the building foundations. Concrete cylinders were collected and take to the lab.

Concrete Strength testing: Concrete cylinders were analyzed for their strength by performing break tests on the procured cylinders.

Windsor Probe Testing of Hardened Concrete: Windsor Probe testing was conducted on two footings due to lack of required strength. Tests were conducted by manufacturer standards.

Steel and Bolting inspections: Inspection of Roof Metal decking was performed. Quality of weldments, Proper spacing weldments, proper lapping of metal decking, proper gauge of metal decking, no excessive burning of metal decking. Inspection of high strength torque bolts. Bolted connections were inspected in accordance with AISC specs. Bolts were inspected with calibrated torque wrench to assure min. requirements. Inspection of structural steel beam framing

TSPE, as Prime, is providing On Call Asphalt, Concrete and Earthwork Inspection and Testing services to the Town. All concrete production and sampling is performed in accordance with the Nassau County DPW Standard Specifications for Construction of Highways and Bridges 1964 Edition and Current Addenda: Part Three General Specifications: Section A – Portland Cement Concrete. TSPE is providing field technicians to sample HMA mixture from the truck/paver and to cut cores for laboratory testing. TSPE is also providing Asphalt Paving Inspectors to inspect the preparation, placement and compaction of asphalt pavements. In addition, ACI Certified Concrete Laboratory Testing Technicians are responsible for plant inspections and ACI Certified Concrete Special Inspectors/ACI Certified Concrete Transportation Construction Inspectors are inspecting the construction of reinforced concrete structures at the jobsite or at Precast Concrete Plants. Regarding Earthwork, all production is performed in accordance with the Nassau County DPW Standard Specifications for Construction of Highways and Bridges 1964 Edition and Current Addenda: Part Three General Specifications: Section D – Excavation. Our field technicians are sampling and testing soil and aggregates at the jobsite or supplier’s site, packaging and delivering samples to the testing lab. Certified Nuclear Density Technicians are determining the in-place measurements of wet density and water content of soil and soil-aggregate and the determination of dry density.

As a sub-consultant to Wharton Pryce, TSPE is providing a compaction test at a few locations, the depth of the RCA measured in a few locations (at 5”), as well as the RCA tested to ensure it’s NYS Grade RCA. In addition, while the Binder Base (3” Binder Base) is being installed, TSPE is providing an inspector on premises to check for the depth of the binder base and send the base to be tested. In addition, the same inspection reporting will be provided when the contractor installs the final 2” of NYS type 6F topcoat.

As s sub-consultant to de Bruin Engineering, P.C., TSPE is providing materials testing / special inspection services for the reconstruction of East and West Practice Tennis Courts at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows – Corona Park. Scope includes removal of existing asphalt courts to replace with new post-tensioned concrete slabs. This work includes, demolition of existing courts, installation of new RCA subbase and installation of new post tensioned concrete slab.
