TSPE provided a geotechnical engineering study and recommendations for the proposed Beacon Wellness development in the Town of Babylon, Suffolk County. The Geotechnical Report presented descriptions of the existing site conditions, subsurface conditions, and geotechnical recommendations for the design and construction of the proposed building at 831 Broadway in Amityville, NY. The proposed development anticipated consisted of the construction of a new two-story office building on grade having a total area of 3,350 square feet. Three geotechnical test borings were drilled within the existing lot. The subsurface conditions were considered suitable for supporting the proposed building using a shallow foundation system.

As a sub-consultant to LiRo, TSPE provided Geotechnical consulting services for a new secondary access point to the fountain mechanical vault space. Based on the information provided, the proposed secondary access tunnel was expected to be 4-5 ft below grade with an approximate width of 3-5 ft, the tunnel consists of reinforced concrete. For the proposed secondary access tunnel, two soil borings were performed. Both borings advanced to a minimum of 32 feet below existing grade, or 5 feet into bedrock if encountered first. The conditions encountered will be detailed on boring logs. The borings were performed within the proposed building footprint with a truck mounted drill rig. Standard Penetration Tests (SPTs) will be performed, and samples were taken continuously through the upper 12 feet and at 5-foot intervals thereafter. Due to the location and high likelihood of encountering underground utilities, the first 5-6 ft was hand augered. Based off the borings performed, a geotechnical engineering report was prepared that summarizes the project, exploration program, and subsurface conditions, and included a boring location plan, boring soil logs, and design phase recommendations for geotechnical-related design parameters

TSPE provided Geotechnical consulting services for the construction of a steel-framed one-story addition to the NYU Langone Long Island Hospital in Mineola, New York. The proposed structure will help alleviate crowding in the existing emergency department that is often filled to capacity.  The proposed building consists of three sections with entry/security, emergency room, and restrooms. Two exploratory borings were drilled within the proposed footprint of the one-story addition to the building and were advanced to advanced to 37 feet below existing grade.  Based off the borings performed, a geotechnical engineering report was prepared that summarized the project, exploration program, subsurface conditions, foundation recommendations, support of excavation recommendations and relevant geotechnical-related design parameters.

TSPE provided Geotechnical consulting services for the NYPD Harbor Charlie Police Facility as part of a remediation plan for a failed bulkhead. Due to permitting purposes, five borings were implemented. Five borings with two of the borings was conducted on the pier to advance to a minimum of 102 feet below grade. TSPE planned the drilling and provided coordination with subcontractors. Proper drilling procedures and operations were verified and implemented per Building Code requirements. We conducted a laboratory testing program to establish the index and engineering properties of the soils. Along with the boring program, TSPE planned an NDT program and provided coordination with subcontractors, reviewed the available Pile Construction and As-Built information, and based on the results of the NDT program, provided recommendations assessing the geotechnical and structural capacities of the piles within our Geotechnical Report.
